Trick or Treat

Character Day pics

Character Day at Florence Elementary

What a great way to celebrate the holiday. Madison's school organized a character day so the children could dress up as a character from their favorite book (no scary costumes). We saw so many creative costumes like Madeline, Curious George, Fancy Nancy, Harry Potter, farm animals, and many Disney characters. Some teachers dressed up as Five little monkeys and The very hungry Caterpillar. Madison picked out the book Lady bug girl and we read it every night for two weeks. The day started out with a parade to show off the costumes and books. Then we ended up in the library to hear a story about a pet named honey. The Author read the story and later signed autographs on the books. After the library we went back to the classroom so each child could tell the class a little about their character. Mrs Johnson read a couple of their books before we ended up in the auditorium for a show put on by the fire department. The Firemen were dressed up like clowns wearing fireman uniforms and the stage was set up like a house with several different hazards to find. They learned about smoke alarms, hot stoves, floor heaters and how to call 911. It was a very eventful day without all the Halloween party stress.

Feed at your own risk

Here's a couple of videos I have to share. Too funny!

One year older, one size bigger

This picture is from one year ago this month. After looking at some of Matthew's 2 year old pictures I have realized how much taller he is now. You don't think about the height because all you see is that cute adorable baby face that still looks the same. I love his smile and especially his belly laughs. I love how I try to take off his shirt and he crunches his little body up and laughs so hard because he thinks I'm trying to tickle him. I love how he picks up the phone to talk to grandma and asks "where's my lightening McQueen?" (every time). I love how he dances around in a circle when he gets excited. And most of all I love how he says "I love you mommy".
