What a great Fair. There was so much to do that we didn't have a chance to get to the other side of the fair grounds. So we missed out on the gardens, butterflies, planetarium, and most of the shows. We did see an amazing bird show that came in from Florida. WE walked through the exhibits, took the kids on some rides, checked out the live stock, fed the baby farm animals, walked through the Aquarium, watched a pumpkin carver and tasted some deep fried creations (my purpose for attending the fair). I would always hear about the different deep fried foods from fairs but never really had the opportunity to try some. Our favorite was the deep fried peanut butter jelly and banana sandwich. There was so much food it was impossible to try everything but I will list some of the fried food for you.2008 Big Tex choice awards finalists
1. Fried grilled cheese sandwich
2. fried banana split
3. chocolate covered strawberry waffle balls
4. deep fried S'mores
5. deep fried pineapple ice cream (soooooo good!)came with strawberries
6. fried chocolate truffle
7. chicken fried bacon (yuk!!)
8. Texas fried jelly belly beans
I wish we were able to try everything but we probably would've ended up in the hospital with a blocked carotid. Too bad they don't give out taste samples. The Texas fair was the largest and probably the best fair we've been to.
